8th edition EJOI

From August 16-22, 2024, the Republic of Moldova is hosting the European Junior Olympiad in Informatics (EJOI), a programming competition in the field of informatics, which is in its 8th edition this year. The organizers of the 8th European Junior Olympiad in Informatics are the Ministry of Education and Research and the National Agency for Curriculum and Evaluation.

At EJOI, students aged up to 15.5 years from 26 countries from the European continent, who arrive in our country accompanied by their teachers, will compete. This large-scale event is not a debut for the Republic of Moldova, as our country has considerable experience as a host country. Thus, the Republic of Moldova has twice organized the Balkan Olympiad in Informatics, in 2007 and 2017. It also held the Junior Balkan Olympiad in Mathematics in 2006 and 2021 and three editions of the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad: in 2000, 2009 and 2019. It also held the International French Language Olympiad in 2019.

The official invitation from the international EJOI committee to organize this event in Chisinau represents an international recognition of the country’s results and potential, providing an additional opportunity to demonstrate that the Republic of Moldova has the capacity to act responsibly, professionally, and in alignment with European standards.
